2009. Le Sillon de Bretagne, plus grand immeuble HLM de l’Ouest, s’apprête à vivre un projet de rénovation qui réduira de 750 à 616 le nombre de appartements qu’il abrite.
Pour accompagner cette mutation et mettre en valeur les liens de voisinage qui ont été l’âme de cet immeuble-quartier, le centre socioculturel mobilise un groupe d’habitants sur une collecte de témoignages et passe commande d’un travail artistique pour donner à voir autrement le Sillon de Bretagne et ceux qui y habitent.
Pendant un an, je suis allée à la rencontre des habitants du Sillon pour les photographier, au pied de l’immeuble ou dans son immédiate proximité.
Une somme de rencontres, mélange de rudesse et de chaleur incomparables. Et une certitude: ces « grands ensembles inhumains » concentrent de trésors d’humanité.
2009. The Sillon de Bretagne, the largest building in the West, is about to undergo a renovation project that will reduce from 750 to 616 the number of apartments it houses.
To support this change and highlight the neighborhood ties that have been the soul of this building-neighborhood, the socio-cultural center mobilizes a group of inhabitants on a collection of testimonials and commissions an artistic work to give to see otherwise the Sillon de Bretagne and those who live there.
For a year, I went to meet the inhabitants of Sillon to photograph them, at the foot of the building or in its immediate vicinity.
A sum of meetings, mixture of roughness and heat incomparable. And a certainty: these « great inhuman sets » concentrate treasures of humanity.
